We are getting hit with a blizzard...wind gusts up to 40 mph....

I live about 15 miles north of Philadelphia...

The Eagles game was cancelled until Tuesday...

Philadelphia Mayor Nutter declared a snow emergency at 2pm today and told

everyone to stay off the roads...

My sister had a post-Christmas breakfast family

get together this morning...

as soon as we saw the snow falling (1pm) we started home...

visibility was not that great then.....

we made it home safe and sound....

no problems...

Table runner Completed

I have finally finished my 2nd table runner....

this is a Christmas gift for another family member..

(I can't mention any names....)

This is the same QAYG table runner that

I made previously....

I backed it with the same material as I did with the first one

This one is also reversible.....

The colors are more burgundy than red....

Now all I need to do is wrap it....

....Merry Christmas....

Trying to be Jolly....

I am trying to be jolly...but it is hard since I had to do a system recovery on my computer...

6 hours on the phone with Gateway and still not finished....

I did manage to back all of the files...wheww!!! and my outlook express and address book....

another wheww!!!  I cannot image trying to remember all of this stuff...so please everyone

remember to do a regular backup of your system...

I have Windows XP and my computer is 7 years old...so now I have to update my computer

with 7 years of updates....eek!!!

I am trying to finish a table runner in the midst of all of this..

but I keep on saying...this too, shall pass..sigh....

I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season....

Finished Project

I previously blogged about the fabric I purchased and now I am ready to

 show you what I made...

another table runner....

this is a Christmas gift for a family member

this one is a little different from the one

I made for myself as I made it reversible..

instead of backing it with muslin like I did mine...

I backed it with a Fall/Autumn fabric

now the table runner can be used for a

few holiday months..

When I showed my "other" family member

the table runner, she admired it

and I think that was a hint that

she would like one....

don't you think?

Well, now I need to make another one..

and I thought I was finished...LOL...

back to the fabric store for more

fabric.....

Last Minute Christmas Gift

I thought I was finished sewing for Christmas...but then I thought I would make

a family member a table runner for the Christmas table..so off to the fabric

store I go...this is what I bought....

Christmas Window Decorating

Yesterday I decorated our front window...

I made the ceramic Christmas tree (40" high)

many years ago and it is perfect

for a picture window...the little bulbs

light up at night...

the two dolls are Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus

Annalee Dolls...(sorry you are looking

at their backs) and the two large

Christmas balls overhead kind of fill up

the top of the window....

Finished my Weekend of Organizing

I set time aside this weekend so I could organize my fabric....

This is what I started with

The process I used was laying the material out,

selvages together and placing a 6" x 24"

ruler on top of the material....

you then proceed to wrap the material around

the ruler......

continuing until you get to the end....

you then slide the ruler out and fold the right and left sides

to the middle and then fold again

until you end up with .....this....

it is then small enough to fit inside one of those

plastic "under the bed" containers....which will

look like this....

it is easy peasy, once you get started...

I actually finished with 4 containers

filled.....

Making Mittens

My friend needed some gift card holders for Christmas gifts and I told her I have a design she might like....mittens...she could put the gift card inside and then the mitten could be hung on the tree and used as a Christrmas ornament....I have an embroidery machine which I used to embroider the design...it was done completely in the hoop...lots of fun to make...she was very happy with the results....

The Mailman Was At My Door Today!!!

I heard the bell ring, the dog bark...the mailman was delivering a package....It was from Pam from Mama Sparks......

I quickly opened up the box....

Wow...look what was inside......

The Halloween Schlep bag...how cute is this...all of the beautiful Halloween fabrics in and outside of the bag...inside the bag were the fabric squares and the black material and the autographed pattern....and something extra...a little box with magnets....and a kind note from Pam...

I can't wait to start this quilt....this is so much fun.....

Finally Finished My Quilt

I have finally finished quilting my quilt...I put the binding on and now I will hand stitch the binding...I am very happy with the way it turned out...are there mistakes...YES....but for my first full size quilt I am relatively happy with it....I need to practice machine quilting with my domestic machine....

Quilting away

I started to quilt the quilt...I decided to do a stippling design...oh my, what was I thinking....I am using all of my patience doing this on my domestic sewing machine...for the first time, never did a quilt this big....only smaller ones...I have consumed our DR table...it is the only place big enough to do this...

My first full size quilt

I am currently working on a Bonnie Scotsman Quilt.  I am making it to cover a sofa bed.  It is approximately 87" x 77".   I have sewn it altogether and pinned it.  I am so happy I have a large DR table.  My husband put in the leaf and the pads and I pinned it on there.  I figured it would be alot better than laying it out and pinning it on the floor...and better for my back...

Joined "The Painted Quilt" Blog

I happened to stumble upon a wonderful blog spot "The Painted Quilt".  Kaaren does beautiful quilts as well as create patterns that she shares.  I just started downloading her BOM of Raggedy Ann and Andy...so cute.  The second block was just posted so I need to hurry and do my two blocks before the 20th of next month.  I am also working on my first full size quilt ...I will post some pictures of the blocks...
Here is the block I am working on...I need to make 56 of them...

This blogging is new to me although I have read so many blogs that you would have thought I would have had one by now.  I love to sew, quilt and machine embroider.  I hope to share some of my experiences and ideas on my blog.
